Bingo, previously known as Rio when taken in from Pointers In Need, was a stray found severely underweight in Spain and rescued from a local shelter by a foster carer. It wasn’t long until his kind brown eyes and sweet face caught the eye of Gabriella in South Wales.
“Initially we were looking at UK rescues but they turned us down because of my two young child, despite the fact they had grown up with our previous dog and were used to them. They would only consider us for a puppy which we didn’t want to have due to our work commitments. Therefore we started looking for a dog from abroad. Claire Stokes is a family member so my mother-in-law suggested we get in touch with her.
Bingo joined our family in mid-January 2023. He was thought to be roughly two years old at the time but since his past is unknown it’s an educated guess. He’s a Pointer cross, smaller than an average English Pointer at about 18kg.
The rehoming process was very smooth and we were kept informed every stage – we could even track Bingo on his journey from Spain in real time! When he finally arrived he was very excited to meet us. Although it was absolutely pouring down with rain, the poor thing must have had a huge shock to the system! First thing he did was a giant poo in the middle of the living room!
Bingo adjusted very quickly to his new home. He has adored and respected my kids from day one. He’s very gentle with them and would literally tolerate anything from them. I would say he often behaves like a puppy, he is certainly not the brightest of dogs. We had to change the whole kitchen floor for him because he couldn’t work it out how to walk on laminate!
He’s definitely filled the hole that was left our old dog passed. We love Bingo very much.
