Rachel Larter

Volunteer, Fosterer and Foster Coordinator

My love for animals started at a very early age. It wasn’t until I was 12yrs old that we got our first family dog. A golden Labrador. He was my shadow and even came to college with me when I studied an animal care course. My love for animals followed me through life to the point that I would get neighbours and friends asking for help with various species of animals and I rehomed many unwanted pets. My home is now affectionately known as “the zoo”.

I discovered pointers when I lost both my Staffie and Shar Pei cross. In 2018 I came across Pointers In Need and I adopted my first pointer Cooper. The difference we made to his life and watching him develop into such an amazing dog made me want to help this amazing breed. I adopted my second pointer, Jia. I then decided I wanted to help Pointers In Need and became a fosterer. I have had 8 foster dogs so far. Some have come to me with difficulties but it has been so rewarding to see them build confidence and grow while in my care. I have now found my calling in life. I feel honoured to be part of the Pointers In Need team.
