A Joyful Story for Christmas

In the early part of 2025, war raged in Lebanon. Airspace was closed. Flights ceased. The future looked uncertain. Waiting ….. waiting patiently… was a beautiful orange and white Pointer, six years old, named Molly.

Pointers In Need waited too.

CEO Claire had agreed to find Molly a new, and peaceful, home in the UK.

Suddenly, things changed. We could move her. We acted quickly. She flew into Heathrow and a relay of Pointers In Need volunteers delivered her to a foster home.

Meanwhile, in Oxfordshire, a lovely family were considering adopting a Pointer …….

‘Having lost our rescue pointer of almost 13 years last summer, we decided we were ready for a new dog.  With rescues being our preference, our daughter found the Pointers in Need Facebook group.  It was there that we learned of Molly, a pointer from Mount Lebanon Dog Shelter and in a UK foster home.  She was not enjoying sharing quarters with a cat and, sympathising with her situation, we thought she would be a good fit with us.  We adopted Molly (now May) in March and she quickly settled in, particularly in the kitchen where she became a trip hazard and counter surfer.

May loves her walks, playing fetch, and exploring the garden and village.  Every day we see new aspects of her personality shine through.  One of her favourite things is getting to meet new people; she will greet everyone with a hug and welcomes visitors by sitting with (or on) them and showing off her squeaky toys.

May has the energy of a puppy still, which means she enjoys running for hours in the garden and meeting the local dogs in the village.  She is also a keen huntress – she can go into her own world in the garden and her hearing becomes selective.  With a little bit of training and familiarity to the house and garden, she is learning to reel it in, though she still disapproves of wildlife in her garden!

After dinner, May is very good at settling down and enjoys finding a sofa to sleep on while watching TV. She is so loving, very charming to everyone she meets, so we can forgive her for sometimes being a handful!  These are the qualities that make her such a fun and adorable dog, and seven months on we wouldn’t be without her.’
