Home Pointers Lucky & Poppy

Lucky & Poppy

We re-homed Lucky and Poppy around 10 years ago from Spain to a lovely home in Mid Wales. Very sadly one of their owners passed away recently and the family took them into their homes, contacted us and we have now found them a foster family.

Preferably we would love them to be re homed together.

From Debbie, their foster Mom:

We were lucky enough to welcome Lucky (11) and Poppy (8) for the long weekend so they could begin settling into foster life, and although it’s still very early days, they’ve already made quite an impression.

Lucky is the definition of gentle. At 11 years young, he is wonderfully laid back, calm, and incredibly sweet-natured. He enjoys the simple things in life—little play sessions, a potter around the garden, good food… and most of all, a cosy bed and plenty of cuddles.

Lucky has met our grandchildren and was absolutely wonderful with them—calm, gentle, and clearly enjoying the attention.

On walks, Lucky is strong and currently likes to walk with his nose down, pulling on the lead when he wants to go, so lead manners are still a work in progress. He has recently been introduced to a halti and has taken to it brilliantly. He’s very food motivated, knows how to sit, and will patiently wait when asked—a very good boy.

Poppy may be smaller, but she has a huge personality packed into her little frame. Everyone who has met her over the weekend has completely fallen for her.

She is an absolute cuddle monster and, given the choice, would pick a warm lap over a dog bed every time. If no lap is available, she’ll happily snuggle up as close as possible to Lucky for comfort. She has even tried to sneak into our own pointer Arlo’s bed—Arlo tolerated this briefly before deciding Poppy could simply have it!

Poppy has bags of energy, loves playing in the garden, and approaches life with enthusiasm. We are noticing some signs that she may find being left alone a little worrying, but as it’s still only week one, we’re keeping an open mind while she continues to settle and build confidence.

Like Lucky, her lead walking is still very much a work in progress.

Together, Lucky and Poppy are already showing themselves to be an incredibly affectionate, entertaining, and loving pair, and we’re looking forward to learning even more about them as they continue to settle into foster life.
