Pocket rocket Lyla takes off!

Adorable black-and-white English Pointer puppy Menta was put up for adoption through Pointers In Need in 2021 after her owners in Madrid were unable to cope with her. She was lucky enough to be adopted by Shelley and her family from Buckinghamshire, who renamed her Lyla.

“We already had a Pointer called Barney and always wanted to rehome a rescue dog, so we looked at Pointers In Need,” says Shelley, “where we found Lyla, whose original family had found her too much work as a puppy. Pointer puppies are full on, as we know, but that didn’t put us off! We liked the look of Lyla because she was still young, and we ended up adopting her in November 2021 when she was five months old.

“We found the rehoming process through Pointers In Need was great with very good communication throughout. Lyla was fostered in Yorkshire for two weeks after first arriving in the UK, so my husband drove there from Buckinghamshire to collect her, while we waited patiently for her arrival back home. It was love at first sight!

“Lyla adjusted so well to life with us. It took some time for her big brother Barney to adjust to her, but they are now so comfortable together, even sharing a bed when Barney will allow it. She is such a sweet girl, who loves all humans and dogs! She can be wary at times but takes everything in her stride. Considering she is a rescue, she is the easiest dog we have ever had and we love our little pocket rocket to bits!

“We would definitely look to use Pointers In Need again if ever the right time came along,” says Shelley.
