After much research, we decided a Pointer would be an ideal addition to our home, which we share with Cato (Golden Retriever) and our 2 rescue cats. We wanted a Breed which loved being around its people, and being outside, exploring. I attended the Pointers in Need Fun Day in July 2024, with my 3 children, and we fell in love with all the dogs and their temperaments!
Within an hour of getting home, we had completed the application form to see whether we could be matched with a Pointer in need. We found the community so welcoming. It was very obvious that everyone was totally besotted with Pointers! We knew we had made the right choice!
We were contacted about 3 puppies in Greece and this was the first time we laid eyes on Gus! A beautiful orange and white boy who looked very scared – we were smitten! Initially we were looking at an older dog but after discussing this opportunity with Penny and the team, we decided Gus was the best thing for us and our home!
Communication was brilliant all the way through and Claire was/is absolutely brilliant – super passionate and invested in all the dogs having the life they deserve!
Gus arrived in the UK at the end of September 2024 and we picked him up locally! He was so frightened but immediately loved cuddles! We cannot believe how affectionate he is and despite never living in a house, he settled in so quickly. It was so important that he got on well with Cato and it couldn’t have gone any smoother – he was obviously well socialised in Greece.
We are lucky to have a wild, crazy and bird obsessed boy sharing our life and he has changed everything for the better! He can be challenging at times and we are still learning about Pointers, but it’s so worth it! He is bonkers in the morning and I cannot wait till he is old enough to run with me but my favourite part of every day is cuddle time with our beautiful boy!
Adoption is such a gift – for them and for us!
It is such a comfort to know that we have the support of Claire and her team. It’s such a lovely community, doing important work for these beautiful animals who enrich our lives so effortlessly.
